Abstract

Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the most common sexually transmitted disease in the world. However, this viral infection presents with different subtypes and some of them are more commonly related to certain complications than others. The types 6 and 11, for instance, are more related to the appearance of condylomatous lesions in the anal region, while types 16 and 18 are more related to the development of neoplasms such as anal and cervical cancer. An individual infected with this pathology may present with condylomatous lesions that are characteristic of HPV or stay without lesions being diagnosed only by cytological studies and detection of viral DNA through the linear array that say the type of HPV in question. About the prevalence of anal HPV infection, it was observed to be higher in certain populations than others. One of them is that men who have sex with men (MSM) increase even more when they are associated with HIV infection. For this reason, there is a higher risk of complications in this population, especially on the cancer area. In addition, the main treatment consists of surgical electrocautery, but this procedure has a high relapse around 50%, which generates the need for a follow-up protocol for populations at risk, such as that cited. Thus, information about the epidemiology of anal HPV infection as well as the more frequent types can determine the public health measures in the site. However, this information is generally scarce, as is in the Barretos region. AIMS: 1) to evaluate the most frequent HPV types involved in anal infection in MSM/HIV population in Barretos region. 2) To evaluate the prevalence of HPV infection in MSM population with HIV/AIDS in the region of Barretos. Materials and methods: This project is linked to another Project receiving grant from PPSUS (dispatch 2016/15107-3) and consists of a cross-sectional analytical study using biological material. From the capture of patients in "Serviço de Atenção Especializada" (SAE), "Centros de Testagem e Aconselhamento" (CTA), "Unidades Básicas de Saúde" (UBS) will be formed two groups each with 60 men (MSM / HIV) being the first with the condylomatous lesion and the second without apparent lesion, in the first consultation. In the patients who present the lesions, the conventional treatment will be offered and for both, there will be a follow-up of 3 consultations. These will happen 60, 180 and 360 days after the first consultation. In all the consultations, it will be made cytology, anuscopy and analysis of the material by linear array. After the data collection, the information obtained will be submitted to descriptive statistics analysis in order to find the epidemiological profile of the population. Before the start, the project will be submitted to the "Comitê de Ética do Hospital de Câncer de Barretos" and all patient information will remain confidential and a consent term will be presented to all the participants according to the rules of the same committee. The study is scheduled to last 12 months starting as soon as it is approved by "Comitê de Ética". (AU)
