The present project aims the development of an analytical method based on biomimetic systems for the determination of folic acid and its metabolites. The construction of the biomimetic system will be carried out with the molecularly printed polymers (MIPs). The MIPs will be synthesized on metallic nanoparticles by precipitation method, and characterized by scanning electron microscopy, infrared spectroscopy, and BET (Bunauer-Emmett-Teller) method. The magneto-MIPs will be evaluated in rebinding tests (analyte: polymer), and after their efficiency has been proven, these materials will be used as modifiers in electrochemical sensors (magneto-MIP / sensor). It is expected that the developed magneto-MIPs will become an ideal material for sensitive and selective analysis of folic acid and its metabolites in food, biological, and environmental samples. The results obtained with the electrochemical method will be compared with the reference method (HPLC-UV).
