Abstract

Meat quality traits are difficult to measure and not often included in current breedingprograms. However, due to the great economic importance of these traits, research toimprove our knowledge on the molecular factors and mechanisms that control theexpression of these traits is increasing. This project aims to evaluate the differential coexpressionof genes in Nellore bulls muscle tissue, within extreme groups formyofibrillar fragmentation index (MFI) and marbling phenotypes, using data fromtranscripts obtained by RNA-Seq. From this information, associations between theexpression of isoforms and the differential co-expression gene between the divergentgroups can be performed, which will produce a better understanding of the molecularmechanisms involved with marbling and tenderness related traits.
