The optimization of an energy harvester from stall-induced oscillations, such as proposed in the ongoing doctoral project (FAPESP project 2017/09468-6), requires an accurate and fast aerodynamic model. This modeling must be able to capture non-linearities associated with dynamic stall effects. Furthermore, when a harvester with finite span is considered, the aerodynamic analyses need to account for three-dimensional wing effects. However, the development of low-cost methodologies for accurate and fast prediction of unsteady nonlinear loads in three-dimensional wings remains a challenge. In this sense, the present project proposes the implementation and validation of a computational model to predict the nonlinear unsteady aerodynamic behavior of a three-dimensional wing undergoing oscillations at high angles of attack. Such methodology will be validated against high-fidelity computations and experiments. The development of this research project will result in an aerodynamic code to be coupled to the aeroelastic model used for the optimization process of an energy harvester from stall-induced oscillations.
