Abstract

As a result of parasitism, Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus causes high losses in national cattle production, estimated to be approximately $ 3.24 billion per year. In recent years, due to excessive use of synthetic products, scientific reports of resistance to commercial antiparasitics have increased and is one of the most worrisome factors in ruminant production systems. The excessive use of synthetic products is still related to food safety, where the presence of residues in food of animal origin can compromise human health and for this reason the demand for organic food has been increasing. Thus, researches focusing on new active molecules present in plant extracts for control of the bovine tick have intensified. However, results of high efficacy in vitro are not repeated in vivo and therefore, suitable formulations need to be studied, developed and evaluated. Nanocarriers allow the improvement of the bioavailability of actives compounds, such as increasing aqueous solubility, improving tissue absorption and distribution processes, reducing thus possible toxic effects. In this way, the present project aims to evaluate the acaricidal potential of formulations developed from nanocarriers systems based on cypermethrin + chlorpyrifos and its association with bioactives isolated from plants, in addition to attempt to reduce the residual period and the dose to reach the same efficacy. It is expected in the present proposal to advance in this research area, developing systems (lipid carriers and zein nanoparticles) in which new molecules can be incorporated and evaluated for parasitic control.
