Legal guarantee to the elderly: characterization of the support for pharmacological treatment at the Public Prosecution Service of a city in the interior of São Paulo

Abstract

The number of Brazilian people has been increasing in the last decades. The age-old phase shows itself with more positive possibilities of aging however; also it is observed a significant increase in spending on health and higher consumption of medicines. The challenges facing aging and its demands. The challenges front aging and its demands still shows themselves incipient in many developing countries. The Brazil is no exception. Among the demands for aging with quality, the support, the access and the maintenance of specialized service systems and integrated are needed. Ensuring the right of the person elderly in the network of public and private attention has been expands enormously in the current days to extinguish the possibilities of negligence or absence of right to health. On the other hand, when the right is violated, an of the public support agencies is the Public Attorneys, and especially in relation to the interface to the person elderly and pharmacological treatment needs (medicines), the Public Attorneys has received numerous requests. Objective: This research aims to identify the requests for support to pharmacological treatment into Public Prosecutor´s Office of the elderly in an interior city of São Paulo state, and to identify possible correlations of the medicines requested in relation to pathologies and prevalence of chronic diseases in old age. Methods: a descriptive, exploratory, retrospective study based on documentary studies fundamentals. The collection will be done next to the database of the research group that this work is integrated. The analysis will be based on the assumptions of simple statistics and thematic content. Expected Results: To characterize the profile of the person elderly who have resorted to justice for access to medicines. It is also hoped to identify the requested items in interface with the pathologies identified and possible pathologies prevalent in the aging process. It seeks to contribute to broadening reflections on the health guarantee of the elderly; as multiply this kind of work in other municipalities with similar situations, and to contribute to the scientific literature on the subject.
