This research aims at updating the data obtained in the previous study financed by FAPESP entitled "Boardwalk of Presidente Prudente - SP: thermal comfort in open public spaces" (FAPESP process 2008 / 11258-0) and to compare the results of both in order to verify the new conditions of comfort in this space and evaluate whether the renovation was beneficial or detrimental to the thermal comfort of the users. Public open spaces are indispensable for the quality of urban life and its importance for the welfare of the population is indisputable. However, they are continually neglected and designed without considering the environmental parameters that influence the perception of thermal comfort of users, a fact that affects the characteristics of space use. In order to survey these characteristics, the surveys will follow the methodology used by the RUROS (Rediscovering the Urban Realm and Open Spaces) project, adapted to the climatic reality of the Paulista countryside, monitoring microclimatic conditions with the simultaneous application of questionnaires on sensation, perception and thermal preference of the visitors, raising the thermal comfort calculated through predictive indexes of comfort in external spaces and, respectively, the actual thermal comfort calculated through the questionnaires. Thus, it will be possible to analyze and compare the new data, post-reform, with the previous data, pre-reform, identifying the impacts of spatial, vegetative and material changes on the calculated thermal comfort and the actual thermal comfort, as well as detecting the differences between the conditions of objective and subjective comfort.
