Abstract

The search for synthetic or natural products aiming at the identification of new structural models inhibiting advanced glycation has been gaining prominent importance for the cosmetic sector. Advanced glycation is directly related to skin aging, loss of elasticity of the dermis, and a few chronic diseases, such as diabetes and Alzheimer's. There are a few products recently launched by renowned companies such as Chanel and Olay, which make evident the innovation, trend and interest of the cosmetic industry in natural products with anti-glycation activity. Some compounds present in plants, such as phenolic compounds have glycation inhibitory activity, which is often related to the antioxidant properties, able to neutralize free radicals and oxidative stress. In addition, the concept of bioeconomy, that use products of natural origin, sustainable, new models of pharmaceutical bioproducts, food supplements and cosmetics, among others, have been gaining importance and increasing scientific research in this area. In this sense, the present study aims to identify natural products with antiglycation potential in the leaves and branches of the species Talisia esculenta. The choice of this species was due to information on its chemical profile, rich in phenolic derivatives. The evaluation of the cosmetic potential in a reconstructed human skin model will be performed with the most promising compounds identified in the preliminary tests. With this, the present project is innovative and can result in potentially applicable results by the cosmetic industry.
