Abstract

Although the use of new molecules is an effective strategy for the treatment of different skin pathologies, limitations related to their physicochemical and pharmacological properties have directed researches for the development of new nanocarrier systems and pharmaceutical formulations. Among these systems, there are that formed by the poloxamers (PL) copolymers in combination with oily phases (such as lecithin, oleic acid, etc.) forming organogels, which have the ability to modulate the release and permeation of drugs through of the skin, according to adjustments in their composition. Sulforaphane (SFN) is a phytochemical, a member of the isothiocyanate family, found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower. Studies have shown its pharmacological properties as antioxidants, immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory due to inhibition of lipopolysaccharide production, protection against UV rays and reduction of expression of the cyclooxygenase-2 promoter gene. Thus, this proposal aims from the preparation and physical-chemical characterization to in vitro studies (stability, release, permeation, cytotoxicity) of organogels, containing sulforaphane as drug model, designed to promote the drug permeation through the skin, aiming at the treatment of pathologies such as atopic dermatitis and psoriasis.
