Urban integration: slum clearance and resettlement in a housing complex

Abstract

In this research is analyzed a slum clearance and resettlement process of families in a housing complex, whose procedure was done based on the Housing Plan elaborated for Bauru (SP). The removal process occurred at a slum area in Jardim Ivone neighborhood, which was in a risk area due to the erosion and a strong collapse probability. All the families were transferred to a housing project part of Minha Casa Minha Vida program, built in the same neighborhood. The study of City Statute instruments application in removal and resettlement situation is the object of study in this research, as well as to evaluate the political action employed by the Local Government and how popular participation occurred. The economic and social impact promoted in these people's life intends to be verified in this evaluation. An analysis of the urban insertion of the housing complex in the urban network will also be carried out, emphasizing the urban aspects relationship between the project/endeavor and the city, such as road connections, urban infrastructure availability, service network and sanitation. To achieve the proposed goals, descriptive research methodologies, documentary research and qualitative evaluation will be adopted. (AU)
