A study about memory and perception from the philosophy of Henri Bergson and of the context of cyberspace

Abstract

Henri Bergson's philosophy criticizes not only metaphysics and sciences in general, but also psychology in particular. Such a criticism can be understood as a reaction to the radical naturalism of the nineteenth century, especially the disciplines that were articulated around the method of the natural sciences. The aim of the present research proposal is to problematize recurrent themes of study of psychology, especially memory and perception, based on the philosophy of Henri Bergson, in view of the new challenges and configurations concerning the context of cyberspace. The digital context of cyberspace expresses challenges to traditional conceptions achieved by psychology, from the resizing of notions, such as memory and perception, in view of their peculiar interfaces and modes of interaction. This study will be organized in three stages: in the first, it will be explained about the method of intuition, in Bergson, from his works and his commentators, with the intention of discussing axes related to the creation and position of problems, discovery of True differences of nature, apprehension of real time, criticism of the negative and critique of general ideas. In the second, we intend to discuss, in view of the elements discussed in the previous stage, about the notions of memory and perception, according to Bergson's propositions; Finally, in the third, a discussion will be performed about memory and perception, according to Bergson, in articulation with the context of cyberspace, having as reference recent academic studies. From this research, we intend to present a study that integrates axes in philosophical discussions, in particular related to the philosophy of Bergson, to correlations with themes recurrent to psychology, considering the peculiarities presented by the context of cyberspace.
