Abstract

Neuron's environment contributes to neurodegeneration and so, supportive cells, blood-brain barrier and extracellular matrix are also participants in this condition. About this, the neuroinflammatory component of neurodegenerative disorders comprises robust activation of the resident glial cell. There is an inflammatory component in Parkinson disease(PD), verified mainly by postmortem studies of PD brain, analyzis of cytokines in serum and cerebrospinal fluid, and risk factor associations with cytokine and major histocompatibility complex polymorphisms. Tetracyclines are a group of antibiotics that, in addition to antimicrobial properties, have protective effects in neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disease. These drugs exert an array of brain protective functions including reduction of the neuroinflammatory processes. it is clear the importance of astrocytes and NG2 cells in pathologies related to central nervous system. Regarding this, glial cells participation could provide a new neuroinflammatory mechanism target for doxycycline effect. Besides, the neuroinflammatory process in neurodegenerative diseases, mainly represented by glial actuation, is a valorous theme for increment the study focus of our research line. Importantly, the highlighted for different morphologic types from these glial cells is a new topic in our experimental animal model and the NG2 cells characterization in the 6-OHDA parkinsonism model and L-DOPA-induced dyskinesia is a pioneer data in the literature.
