Abstract

The object of this research proposal is the study and development of models and resolution approaches for voltage-stability-constrained optimal power flow (VSC-OPF) problems applied to electricity markets. In the existing literature, many of the operational security representations are too conservative, approximated, with high computational costs and/or even ineffective. In this context, a novel VSC-OPF formulation based on bilevel non convex nonlinear programming (NLP) is proposed. This research project is methodologically founded on the analysis of power system operational security representation in optimal power flow problems and on the formulation and resolution of large bilevel non convex NLP problems. To accomplish this, the main concepts on electricity markets, power system operational security (voltage stability) and resolution of large bilevel non convex NLP problems will be outlined by means of a background review on these subjects. Tests with the developed VSC-OPF models and resolution approaches will be carried out using IEEE test systems. (AU)
