Abstract

The project aims to investigate the species of non-bioluminescent and bioluminescent keroplatid dipterans of Atlantic Forest, comparing them to each other and to the morphological and biochemical systems of Arachnocampa and Orfelia. It will be done morphological and histochemical studies about bioluminescent structures with the non-luminescent ones, but similar to the first. Biochemical studies will also be done, as the cell fractionation and the bioluminescent bio-image, with the intention of visualizing the cell's region responsible for the light emission. The project of I.C. is a subproject of the thematic project FAPESP 2010/05426-8, that aims improve the scientific and technological development of bioluminescent systems in arthropods. (AU)
