Abstract

Extrahepatic cholestasis, especially atresia of bile ducts, is a significant cause of cirrhosis in the pediatric area. Due to pathophysiological changes, there is a greater susceptibility to complications. One important group are cholangitis, and spontaneous bacterial peritonitis. They serve as the initial focus for organic injury and immune dysregulation, which can trigger a septic picture and septic shock. There are in the literature explanations for the course of each disease. However, especially regarding the pediatric patient and experimental models, there are questions to be answered. OBJECTIVES: study the association of sepsis with cirrhotic profiles; record the histopathological findings of the main organs affected; record the laboratory findings obtained through serum quantification of interleukins; analyze and compare the data between the different groups. METHODOLOGY: BDL and CLP procedures will be performed on 100 rats for further analysis and euthanasia. Post-euthanasia in different periods, histopathological findings of some organs will be analyzed, as well as interleukin levels via serum samples collected via aortic puncture. Statistical analysis will be performed using Shapiro-Wilk, Student's T or ANOVA, Mann-Whitney or Kruskal-Wallis tests, following determination of significant differences between the groups using the Dunn test. The equality hypothesis will be rejected for pd0.05. (AU)
