Abstract

Cassava is one of the most important crops in tropical countries. It has been cultivated as a strategic crop in semi-arid regions due to its drought tolerance. Within the predictions of changes in climatic and atmospheric conditions, it is imperative to understand in which ways cassava production might be affected in these regions, in order to anticipate crucial actions to prevent and/or attenuate possible impacts and prepare the population to deal with future changes. The objective of this project is to calibrate and evaluate the cassava simulation model DSSAT CROPSIM-Cassava and to apply it to evaluate the impacts of climate change scenarios in this crop's yield in Brazilian Semi-arid region (SAB), in order to identify and analyze mitigate measures to mitigate these effects.
