Abstract

The research is inserted in Computational Design field through the development of algorithms using visual programming (VPL) and textual programming (TPL). The focus is on architectural projects that consider integrating design, performance, and optimization, known as performance-driven architectural design.By using programming as a computational method in the design process, it is common that architects have to deal with problems such as: logic, programming language and data structure, motivated by unfamiliarity of common bases in the computional area. This often induces architects to make changes to the process to accommodate code errors and unexpected project results. This BEPE aims to explore, evaluate and suggest guidelines for programming interfaces for architecture in the context of architectural design that considers design, analysis and optimization from practical implementation. To achieve these objectives, the candidate intends to work under the supervision of Professor António Leitão of Instituto Superior Técnico in University of Lisbon (IST-ULISBOA), professor of the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Georegions (DECivil) and the Institute of Systems Engineering and Computers - Research and Development (INESC-ID). The professor also coordinates the ADA (Algorithmic Design for Architecture) research group. (AU)
