Chitin and chitosan and its derivatives have been shown to be a new additive for biomaterials with great versatility and excellent properties. Different forms of chitosan have been used in various dental materials, providing better antimicrobial properties, prevention of dental structure demineralization and maintaining or improving the mechanical properties. However, any study defined the better solution for add the chitosan in restorative materials. Thus, it is necessary development bioactive restorative material to improve an adhesive interface and decrease the susceptibility to secondary caries, and consequently greater probability of success restorative treatment. This way it make necessary to check for the possibility of aggregating a CS for improvement of adhesive system. Thus, the objective of the present study is the feasibility of adding a CS in different formats in adhesive system, evaluating degree of conversion, sorption and solubility, wettability of system, flexural strength and Modulus of Elasticity. Three types of chitosan (nanoparticles, phosphorylated and modified by methacrylate) will be synthesized to be added to an experimental and a commercial self-etch system. After a synthesis and a characterization of chitosan, different concentrations are added in the adhesive systems and then analysed as physical and chemical properties of the obtained new products.
