The place of exile: the resumption of debates on human rights in Argentina (1995-1997)

Abstract

This project proposes to work the debates of exile during the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the coup d'état, which are part of the period between 1994 and 1997, when questions about human rights violations take up space in Argentina. Thus, it is intended to pay attention to what are said about the exile two key actors for this resumption: the organization of Human Rights H.I.J.O.S. (Children and Daughters for Identity and Justice against Forgetfulness and the Silence) and also the Spanish newspaper El País. Looking at the debates brought by these two actors, we will try to understand the discourses about exile and the space obtained in the historiography by this form of violence from the end of the 1990s and especially in the 2000s.
