Abstract

The multifactorial basis and the diversity of problems related to the consumption and dependence of alcohol and other drugs require professionals from different areas trained to identify and intervene early. Several educational processes were fostered by the Brazilian government in the last years aiming the training of these professionals. The evaluation of such courses is fundamental for optimization strategies. Objective: to evaluate a presential educational process offered to public health, education, law and social development professional network in attention to alcohol and other drug users in São Paulo city; based on reports from course participants, managers and course coordinators. Methodology: this is a mixed study, using quantitative and qualitative approaches. In the quantitative stage, data obtained from self-reported questionnaires administered longitudinally (pre-course, post-course and follow up) to 600 participants of CRR-DIMESAD-UNIFESP students will be analyzed. Descriptive, inferential (ANOVA) and logistic regression analysis will be performed in order to identify factors related to professional changes following the courses. The qualitative phase will include focus group, individual interviews and learning alliance group’s techniques, acessing 60 course participants, 30 public service managers and 10 course coordinators. Qualitative data will be submitted to content analysis. (AU)
