Abstract

This research project aims to know the proposal and actions of Mediation in public schools in Brazil and Spain. Another objective is to know the conception of education in human rights and citizenship, as well as to verify if gender is present in the proposal of Mediation and in the official curriculum of the State of São Paulo and Spain, elementary and middle schools. The research will be carried out in state public schools, in Marilia (SP), in the city of São Paulo, and in public schools in Valencia (ES). We intend to investigate whether and how the school community, in its Political Pedagogical Project, approaches the themes and refers to the National Human Rights Education Plan of 2006 and the National Curriculum Guidelines for Human Rights Education of 2012, in the case of Brazilian schools and national, local and Spanish school documents. We also intend to investigate which occurrences have the highest incidence in schools to verify if they are related to gender or sexual diversity. Schools will be selected by the criterion of having the professional responsible for mediation. In this way, a qualitative research was chosen, due to the possibility of approaching the specific characteristics of each School Unit. For its accomplishment we will make use of the following methodological instruments: documentary research, bibliographical research, semi-structured interviews and observation in the daily life of the schools. We will have as respondents the Supervision, the Director, the Coordination and Mediators, teachers and students. As for the documentary research, we will read and analyze the Political Pedagogical Project and institutional documents that refer to the official curriculum, as well as those that refer to the attributions of mediation in the schools of the two countries.
