Abstract

The Southern Photometric Local Universe Survey (S-PLUS) aims to map 8000 deg2 of the Southern sky with twelve optical bands using a new dedicated 0.8m robotic telescope at Cerro Tololo, T80-South, and a 2 sq deg FoV optical imager. This project has the goal of exploiting S-PLUS with new tools. The funding asked in the present proposal is for a 5-month sabbatical of the PI of the S-PLUS project to the University of Florida. During the period three projects will be developed (1) a search for bright quasars, (2) developing tools for detecting transient objects and (3) a search for high redshift clusters of galaxies, all using S-PLUS data.
