Abstract

This project aims to develop methodologies to elucidate metabolic profile of yeast isolates (Saccharomyces cerevisiae, etc.) and other microorganisms with proven potential as biocontrol agents of diseases caused by postharvest pathogens fungi (Penicillium digitatum and italicum, Endomyces geotrichum , etc.) in citrus fruit. The analytical tools to be used will be Comprehensive Two-dimensional Gas Chromatography(GC × GC) coupled with Mass Spectrometry and Tandem Mass Spectrometry (MS / MS) and ultrahigh efficient liquid chromatography (UPLC-MS). The initial target will be volatile and nonvolatile metabolomes yeast isolates previously selected as interesting by researchers at the Citrus Center of the Campinas Agronomic Institute (IAC-CC), which will be compared with similar isolated without antimycotic activity. The association of antipatógena activity or lack of gas chromatographic fingerprints will be applying exploratory chemometric tools of higher order (PARAFAC, M-PCA and others). The methods studied here may, depending on the project's progress and the availability of samples, be applied to other isolated and / or bodies with different characteristics. It is expected that the results can be used as a tool for comprehension of the biochemical processes associated with anti-phytopathogen action of the individual, as well as the identification of active compounds and strains associated with this activity for possible application as control agents of post-harvest diseases.
