Brazil has the largest megadiversity on the planet, which is currently experiencing absolute threats to marine and freshwater ecosystems mainly due to degradation and environmental problems. An example of this type of environment is the Jacaré Pepira and Jacaré-Guaçu rivers in the municipality of Ibitinga. Inadequate land use due to activities such as incompatible agricultural and farming practices, monoculture, reforestation, destruction and reduction of forests, lack of sanitation infrastructure, lack of planning in the city's anthropogenic activities and industries are responsible for increasing Erosion processes, pollution, loss of biodiversity and changes in water quality. The Jacaré-Pepira and Jacaré-Guaçu rivers are responsible for the livelihoods of many fishing families in the riverside population of Ibitian. Nowadays, parasites have been confirmed as important components of biodiversity, however, in order to fully understand the functioning of the biosphere, it is essential to determine the absolute function of the parasites in natural ecosystems, as well as to recognize the access points of low and high parasitic diversity. Therefore, the main objective of this project will be to analyze qualitatively and quantitatively the parasitic communities of the ectoparasites and endoparasites of Astronotus ocellatus (Agassiz, 1831) and Pimelodus maculatus (Kner, 1860) collected in the Jacaré Pepira and Jacaré-Guaçu rivers, in the municipality of Ibitinga, state from Sao Paulo.
