Until the beginning of the 20th century, rail transport played an important role as a pioneer and inducer of the country's economic development and of the cities urbanization process through which the tracks passed. Specifically in the region of Alta Sorocabana, from the railway stations, the urban nuclei was formed setting up a significant cultural landscape, record of an era. This research proposes to carry out growth and transformation study of Presidente Prudente original core, evaluating the permanence of its structures in the current landscape conformation. This research is justified, on one hand, by the contribution to São Paulo's interior urbanization cities study process specifically in the areas of the "pioneer front", and on other hand, by contributing to the history of the city, in order to broaden the vision of agents that induce transformations, whether public or private, as well as the population, leading them to relate decision making to the determinants of urban form. It may also contribute to patrimony preservation's public policies formulations. This research is going to develop from the urban morphology methods, from which maps, drawings and graphic schemes will be produced, for each transformation period analyzed, allowing to show the evolution of the initial core shape, its transformations and permanencies.
