Abstract

The place of literature in Ricoeur's philosophy of imaginationThis research aims at analyzing the place of literature within the philosophy of imagination of Paul Ricoeur. Given that many ricoeurian concepts can already be found in critical and theoretical literature, the hypothesis formulated here is a need for a new perspective regarding the investigation of possibilities in applying this philosophy of imagination to the field of literary studies. This research pretends to fit into this new phase by first re-situating within their original texts the concepts Ricoeur creates to define the literary phenomenon, despite them actually being thought to attend in priority the needs of the philosophy.The Symbolism of evil (1960), The Rule of Metaphor (1975), Time and narrative 1,2,3 (1983-1984-1985).Within this context that involves comparison with other authors, the relevance and applicability of the concepts referred to will be discussed taking into account the specific requirements of this field, both regarding what they say about the critical and theoretical autonomy of literary studies and about the specific nature of literary phenomenon.
