The aim of this study is to evaluate the response of bone neoformation on critical defects in rats using scaffolds of polymer blend fibers of Poly (lactic acid-co-glycolic) and Polyisoprene (Cellprene®). This study was approved by the Ethics Committee on Animal Experimentation from the Faculty of Dentistry of Araraquara - UNESP. In this study will be used 36 rats (Rattus norvegicus). The animals will be submitted to trichotomy in the calvaria area and the bone defects, measuring 6mm in diameter, will be made. The animals will be divided into 3 groups: Group collagen - collagen scaffolds (Bio-Gide, from the company Geistlich Pharma Ag - Biomaterials), Group Poly - polymer blend fibers scaffolds from Poly (lactic acid-co-glycolic) and Polyisoprene (Cellprene®), Group control - defects without placing a biomaterial. Each group will be evaluated in 4 experimental periods (7,15, 30 and 60 days). After the corresponding periods the animals will be euthanized. The specimens will be processed by routine laboratory procedures and included in paraffin. Semi-serial cuts of 6 ¼m thickness and stained by the hematoxylin and eosin technique will be obtained for histological and histometric analysis. (AU)
