In this project we propose the study of the theory of error-correcting codes with emphasis in array codes for correction burst errors. Due to the great technological advances and the growing demand for more efficient and secure systems, the theory of error-correcting codes is an area of strong interest nowadays. Algebraic tools are fundamental for the development of this theory, as principal example, we have the linear block codes that are defined as vector subspace of finite fields. The focus of this project is the study of the coding and decoding of array codes by using algebraic and computational tools, aiming to use such codes in the correction of errors that appear in groups, known as burst errors, and to apply such concepts in telecommunications.
