Abstract

After a long period of national studies and monographic studies, today there seems to be a renewed interest in regional and Latin American themes in the field of architectural history and urbanism. This research project is part of this context, and aims to map the discussions about Latin American architecture and city in a historical perspective, relating them more specifically to the issues and discussions of the Colombian magazine Proa, focusing on 1950 to 1970. Considering the traditional tendency to link each national culture with its central European and North American referents, it is a question of perceiving the existence of local networks with different points of contact that, in certain historical episodes, could constitute a specific regional processing network different from those center-periphery contacts. Within a context of circulation of knowledge and professionals between the Americas and Europe - widely studied in the last years - it is sought to understand how proposals for the problems arising from the modernization process in Latin American cities were formulated and discussed.
