Interventions in the food retail environment: overcoming the obstacle information to promote adequate and healthy food at neighborhood

Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study is to develop, implement and evaluate the impact of a proposed educational intervention in food environment guided in overcoming the information obstacle presented in the Food Guide, for achieving healthy and adequate food and nutrition in the population. Method: This is a community randomized intervention study which will take place in Jundiaí-SP. The intervention will be carried out in three stages: the first will be conducted auditing in the food environment, the second will be conducted intervention focused on the obstacle information and the 10 steps to adequate and healthy food and the third will be evaluated indicators of food consumption and food demand. The evaluation of the intervention will occur according to two focuses: 1. The development of indicators related to food and nutrition in the context of consumers and 2. Awareness of traders on the placement of information guided at the Food Guide for the Brazilian population. Expected results: Awakening the trades retails food to the issue addressed by making them realize their potential in supporting the improvement of the diet of their consumers and provide to consumers information about food and nutrition based on the ten steps for an adequate and healthy eating at Guide food for the Brazilian population in the food retail trade and thus thereby strengthen the emancipation of the individual in making healthier decisions about their food.
