Hurtful memories in Buenos Aires: from clandestine detention camps to sites of memory and conscience

Abstract

The project aims to look at the ways of representation of the memory of the last and most violent military dictatorship in Argentina between 1976-19831. It takes as research cut the Red Federal Memory Sites in Argentina, with a focus on four of the former Clandestine Centers of Buenos Aires detención today places of memory that make it up. From the research object search problematize paradoxes, conflicts and dialogues involving the transformation of a place of barbarism (which were these places in the past) in places of memory. Having transnational relations that are established in a globalized world in perspective, the issue of research unfolds on an analysis of the ethical possibilities, aesthetics and representation of violence policies in the contemporary city. In addition, part is the city of the culturalist definition: the city understood as hand fruit of collective work, built by the constant movement of overlapping and deconstructions partly disappears and partly remains over time. In this sense, it is understood that for the study, it is necessary to establish a dialectical relationship between the forms of representation present there and the historical and social processes of disputes that participated in the construction of sites.
