Abstract

The Zika virus is a causative agent of infectious diseases that spreads in humans through the mosquitoes Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, which are vectors of the virus. There are several transmission mechanisms, including mother to child transmission during pregnancy, which can lead to microcephaly in newborns and other birth defects. Efforts to monitor and control Zika virus infection globally are very limited and appear to be insufficient due to lack of accountability, lack of organization and unavailability of drugs, vaccines and diagnostic tools. In the context of the development of new diagnostic methodologies, the construction of biological sensors, also known as biosensors, has become a broad activity in the field of science, focusing mainly on issues of health care and problems with the environment. The development of these biosensors in the laboratory has been worked by several research groups, searching for specific devices, low cost, easy handling and preparation. The electrochemical techniques concentrate the greater number of works performed due to the ease in the process and the instrumentation, allowing to obtain fast and reliable results. In this sense, electrodes modified with conductive polymers are viable options, as they improve the analytical response and help in the immobilization of the biomolecules. Thus, this work aims at the study of the electrochemical and morphological properties of materials derived from the 3-amino-4-hydroxybenzoic acid monomer (AAHB) under the surface of graphite electrodes and graphite electrodes for the construction of a diagnostic genosensor Of the Zika virus.
