Abstract

The magnitude of the urban problems of São Paulo city comes to a unseen stage, as both historic and economic problems as urban policies challenges seem to have mitigated, revealing the difficulties in the realm of ideas and solutions for the city. Despite some important examples of housing solutions in "paulista" architecture indicating a more comprehensive proposal for urban space, there are no systematic studies that focus on this approach. The objective of this research is to identify the spatial patterns (understood as the relationship between architecture and city) in the projects of Guapira and Hicatu buildings, part of Jardim Ana Rosa residential complex, built in Vila Mariana -São Paulo city - in 1953. In this sense, this research proposes: a) spatial analysis of the typologies; b) the relationship of these typologies with the existing city; c) the transformation of these spaces of habitat in the development of the city; d) the reception and incorporation of these alternatives to discipline and e) the consolidation of the documents of these projects for future research. This project continues a wider research, supported by FAPESP (n. 2013/14951-7), coordinated by the professors Luiz Recamán and Leandro Medrano from history of architecture department (AUH - FAUUSP), dedicated to the study of some housing projects built in metropolitan area of São Paulo. At this new stage, the project includes the participation of professors Helena Ayoub, Marta Bogéa and Milton Braga, from project department (AUP - FAUUSP). (AU)
