Abstract

The political leader personifies the political interests in dispute, around its figure are constructed the relations of power. Political leadership can be exercised in different ways and take different forms, which raises the question of the meaning and role of political leadership. In political disputes in democratic societies, or even in undemocratic societies, the figure of the political leader is expressive within contemporary political processes because they channel political actions and conduct political and economic operations and negotiations. Based on our theoretical and methodological experience gained through studies and thesis and dissertation orientations, the main concern of this research is to deepen the topic of political leaderships in Brazil, historically recovering the emergence of these leaderships, problematizing their meaning and seeking Understand the historical sense and personal characteristics of these leaders. For the analysis of the leaderships proposed in this project, mappings will be carried out respecting the historical period, the media respectively available in each period and their relations with the leaders, so that we will investigate the audiovisual and textual productions present in government or independent newspapers, magazines, Radio and television archives, movies, blogs, websites and social networks. This analysis is suggested so that it is possible to evaluate the development of the media and the constitution of the image of political leaders in the country. It will emphasize possible images that elucidate the way political actors have used the media to affirm their status as leaders and their political actions. (AU)
