Abstract

The Technique of the voiced tongue vibration technique (VTVT) is used both in the treatment of dysphonia and in vocal warming up. The use of surface hydration has been used as a strategy to hydrate directly as vocal folds, reducing their viscosity and laryngeal mucus, thus acting increasing its vibration and reducing the phonatory pressure threshold in a short time. Purpose: to verify the effect of surface hydration associated to VTVT on the vocal quality of singers. Methods: 30 singers aged between 18 and 40 years old will participate, without vocal complaints and otorhinolaryngological diagnosis of the absence of laryngeal disorders. Will be constituted two groups of participants: a) control group - will realize 5 minutes of the VTVT; b) experimental group - the inhalation application with 3 mL of saline solution (0.9%) will be performed, keeping the participant at vocal rest and then will perform the VTVT for 5 minutes. The following evaluations will be performed before and after the intervention: self-evaluation, acoustic parameters analysis and vocal extension. The self-assessment will be performed through a protocol where each participant should indicate the sensation related to the voice. Acoustic analysis will be performed using MDVP program - Key-Pentax. For this purpose, recordings of the sustained emission of vowel "a" will be performed before and after the intervention. The recordings will be edited for evaluation, with the beginning and end of the emissions being removed. In addition, the evaluation of the vocal extension will be performed by the Vocalgrama program of CTS Informatics. The data will be presented in a descriptive way and will be carried out tests of comparison of the results of the self-assessment, the acoustic analysis and vocal extension in the moments before and after the application of the VTVT performed in isolation and with the variation of its application associated with surface hydration of the larynx by inhalation.
