Abstract

This project aims to study the phase transformations of the Cu72.9Al15.0Mn10.5Be1.6, Cu72.9Al15.0Mn10.5Co1.6, Cu72.9Al15.0Mn10.5Sb1.6 and Cu72.9Al15.0Mn10.5Zr1.6 alloys using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), differential thermal analysis (DTA), X-ray diffraction (DRX), optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), magnetization measurements with magnetic field and temperature, and microhardness measurements with quenching temperatures. The study of effects of Be, Co, Sb and Zr additions on the phase transformations of the Cu74.5Al15.0Mn10.5 alloy will allow an evaluation of the relationship between atomic properties of alloying elements and the relative fraction of intermetallic compounds produced, in addition will be possible to study the effects of these additions on phase stability formed in ternary alloy.
