Abstract

The drug delivery systems are part of a very promising pharmaceutical industry, providing greater therapeutic efficacy and stability, decreasing side effects in many treatments. The materials that are currently have as main limitation the low ability to deliver large mass of drug. To overcome this limitation a new class of material is being used, the metal- organic framework (MOF). The metal- organic framewok are crystalline coordinator polymers with highly porous consisting of a metal ion and an organic linker. Recently the development of hollow capsules from MOF has attracted much interest for its desirable properties for pharmaceutical applications, such as thermal and mechanical strength, stability and be pH-sensitive. Therefore, the aim of this work is to develop capsules MOFs base formed by different metallic ions (Fe, Zn, Cu and I) and tannic acid, trimesic acid and 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid as organic linkers. The aim is also to evaluate the luminescent or magnetic properties of MOFs developed beyond its capacity to act as carrier molecules. The devices are designed to structurally characterized using XRD techniques, zeta potential, UV-Vis spectroscopy, emission and excitation spectroscopy, SAXS, TGA, IR spectroscopy, XPS, and TEM. Will be performed encapsulation efficiency studies and in vitro release of drug incorporated. In a last step, biological testing in vitro cytotoxicity and cellular internalization of MOF capsules containing the drug will be performed. (AU)
