Abstract

Despite the evidence that individuals with Migraine have cervical musculoskeletal dysfunctions and that, according to central sensitization mechanisms and trigeminocervical convergence, these alterations may promote impairment in muscle activity and motor control of the cervical spine, it is not available in the literature consistent investigations into this issue. Besides, it is verified that in the chronic condition these functional losses and their impact on the quality of life are more accentuated. Therefore, our goal will be to measure the maximum strength of cervical flexors and extensors and to verify muscle activation patterns during cervical movements and during submaximal activity and cervical movements in healthy individuals and individuals with Migraine and Chronic Migraine. For this, 93 individuals will be evaluated, 31 in each group. The strength and range of motion will be measured by the Multi Cervical Rehabilitation Unit, an equipment of evaluation capable of measuring the range of motion of flexion, extension, lateral inclination and rotation, and the isometric force of flexion, extension, lateral inclination. The muscular activation pattern will be verified by the surface electromyography of the cervical musculature, using the TrignoTM Wireless System, during six cervical movements. (AU)
