This internship project (BEPE) reinforces what we had anticipated in our Scientific Initiation project approved by FAPESP: a structuring part of the basis of our research (as well as the qualitative contribution that we intend to offer) relies heavily on the analysis of artifacts, images and documents, preserved, exclusively, in Portuguese collections and libraries. Thus, in a previous survey, we find, in Portuguese institutions, three types of sources - artifacts (museums), official documents (collections), and other sources, such as (interviews with historians who were linked to Expo98) - to be analyzed and confronted by comparative methods, together with the questions we raised in our project, now in progress: would have the editorial and curatorial speech of the Expo98 have exceeded that which proposed by the commission of the Exhibition of 1940; if so, what would have changed and what motivated it? In order to present a dense, cohesive and collaborative text for new discussions about the construction of the discursive set in question, we plan our stage aiming to perform four actions that will not only complement our work as a whole, but, of course, also give us some intellectual maturity. We intend to: interviews with historians and some of the Commissioners of Expo98; consult collections and libraries; participate in academic activities promoted by research groups on history and art; and, finally, present our work to these groups in their respective universities.
