Abstract

This research project presents a proposal for the development of work at the level of Scientific Initiation in the area of transient electromagnetic phenomena associated to PLC (Power Line Communication) systems. The proposal is to analyze the behavior of a physical model of transmission lines, based on À circuit modules, built during the previous year in a Scientific Initiation project sponsored by PROPe / (Pro-Rectory of Research of UNESP) in having its components Adapted to act as a PLC network. In this case, the model originally used in other research carried out at the institution had its initial resistance adapted to approach a PLC system. The model uses single-phase representation based on modified À circuits. The classical circuit structure À does not consider the influence of the frequency, which causes significant errors in the calculations of currents and voltages propagated by the line outside the steady state situation or for high frequency phenomena. Thus, in the classical circuit structure À, parallel RL blocks are inserted to simulate the influence of the frequency on the transmission line parameters. The built physical model was based on a mathematical model developed previously, which is solved using the technique of state variables in conjunction with the numerical method of trapezoidal integration. The results of this mathematical modeling were compared with results obtained by the main computational programs of transient simulation in electrical networks. In the first period of Scientific Initiation, sponsored by PROPe/UNESP UNESP, the À circuit unit was assembled, frequency scanning being performed to obtain the resistance and inductance curves of the longitudinal branch of a À circuit unit. The frequency range used for scanning was between 10Hz and 1Mhz. (AU)
