Abstract

Oral rehabilitations have benefited widely in the last decades after the emergence of osseointegrated implants. One of the challenges that remains for oral rehabilitation is related to the rehabilitation of patients with operated cleft lip and palate. There are still doubts about whether patients with cleft lip and palate have higher biological and biomechanical complications, as well as implantation failures, when compared to patients without fissures. The detailed study of dental rehabilitations with dental implants for this group of patients is relevant in order to determine clinical recommendation protocols. Therefore, the objective of this project is to perform a systematic review with a meta-analysis using the Cochrane model in order to study the number of implant losses, bone loss, biological complications, and technical complications related to oral rehabilitation. The databases PubMed/Medline, Cochrane Collaboration, and Web of Science will be examined using the descriptors "cleft palate" and "dental implants" in order to select appropriate studies. The software Reviewer Manager 5.3 and Comprehensive Meta-Analysis will be used for the quantitative analyses. The significance level considered will be p < 0.05. The article sample will be evaluated according to bias scales developed based on Cochrane. The results obtained will allow the development of guidelines for the use of dental implants in this group of patients, as well as the null hypothesis that implants installed in patients with cleft lip and palate operated do not have a lower survival rate when compared to implants installed in patients without this congenital anomaly.
