Abstract

During the execution of this research itinerary, marked by the focus of the historic emergence of the cinema viewer in the twentieth century from the genealogical analysis of police and legal dynamics centered on hunting for vagrancy throughout the nineteenth century, it has become increasingly evident that the constant remission of these authorities to Portuguese law theorists, especially those who were at the University of Coimbra in the last half of the eighteenth century, seemed to be inescapable in the process of constitution of their reflections and actions. For that reason, the travel to Portugal, more precisely to Lisbon and Coimbra, under the supervision of the professor and researcher in the field of history of education Jorge Ramos do Ó, of the University of Lisbon, aims to deepen the research that I have been carrying out in the Postdoctoral work entitled A genealogy of the constitution of the citizen cinema spectator (1888-1930).Undoubtedly, the main objective of the BEPE project presented here lies in the archival tracking of juridical problematizations that took place at the University of Coimbra during the 18th century, since such debates were of enormous importance for the formation of the conceptual framework of the Brazilian authorities along of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. At the outset, it should be clarified that the Lisbon-Coimbra shuttle will be crucial, as the collections related to this Portuguese historical period are spread between the University of Coimbra and the Torre do Tombo in Lisbon.
