Study of the permissiveness and kinetics among Asian and African Zika virus in human neural and salivary glands

Abstract

Arboviruses are transmitted by arthropods and are responsible for emerging and reemerging infectious diseases in different areas of the world. The Zika virus (ZIKV) is transmitted by the mosquito Aedes aegypti, even transmitting the dengue virus and the chikungunya virus. The ZIKV virus is transmitted by a mosquito bite which, after being contaminated, can carry the ZIKV throughout its life cycle, transmitting a disease to a population that does not have antibodies against it. Vertical transmission of ZIKV for the purposes of sharing said pathogen with fetal cortical progenitor cells. In addition, an exacerbation of cytokines has been observed in Zika cases. In this context, the present study aims at the infection of ZIKV in cell lines and to identify and compare infection kinetics of isolates: Asian and African. Finally, follow the new perspectives of the basic biology of this virus. (AU)
