Abstract

This research project has as object of study the novel "O céu e o fundo do mar", by Fernando Bonassi, published in 1999, and the novel "Miguel e os demônios", by Lourenço Mutarelli, published in 2009. In them, we aim to identify and investigate how is established, in each literary text, the dialogue with the cinema and with the genre screenplay, through the incorporation of eminently visual resources by the literary text, with the purpose of analyzing in what aesthetic and meaningful effects such incorporation results. To the discussion, we will support the perspective of intermidiality, which, according to Rajewsky (2012), manifests itself when proper signs of a media are used to forge the composition of the materiality of another in order to provoke a simulation. We will take into account, from the bibliography selected, the relations established between cinema and literature over the years, with the purpose of demonstrating the potential of the inter-media relationship between the two fields (Literature and cinema) based on the observation, in the novels, of the procedures of literary writing which resemble the procedures used by the cinematographic narratives, such as the The use of the narrative focus that Friedman (2002) calls camera and of procedures that refer to the cinematographic montage, according to Eisenstein (2002). For the analysis, we have as a theoretical basis, also, Shail's (2014) notes on the relationship at the outset of the twentieth century, between the emergence of cinema and the then emerging literary aesthetic known like modernism. Still, we will rely on the definitions that Field (1995) and Comparato (2009) established for the screenplay genre, with the purpose of reflecting on these two works regarding the literary genre. In this way, we understand that the roles occupied by literature and cinema in the complex contemporary horizon marked by the cultural industry is necessary cast a new look. (AU)
