In this proposal, we intend to use the catalytic system based in a vanadosilicate lamellar precursor obtaining a pure microporous material from structure condensation by calcination, and a micro/mesoporous layered material from an exfoliation process. The good results we have obtained so far, motivated us to seek a complete understanding of the enhanced catalytic efficiency of these materials that demands a wide characterization. In this study, the vanadosilicates catalysts will be characterized by N2 physisorption, diffuse reflectance UV-Vis spectroscopy in controlled atmospheres, temperature-programmed of reduction (TPR), and the methanol oxidation will be evaluated as a probe reaction comparing the catalytic test results with the reaction intermediates identified by in situ Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy. The additional characterization of the materials using techniques not available in our group will help us to identify and completely understand the properties of active sites presented in the catalysts and will provide valuable information on how the structural properties influence the oxidative potential of these catalysts.
