The suicide is nowadays the second mainly death cause amongst youngsters and adults from 15-44 years old worldwide. The incidence of suicide has grown up in the last years and reaches a wide age range, besides being present all over the world. In the Brazilian scenery it becomes evident the observation that only in 2012, Brazil reached the 8th position in the suicide rank with a total of 11,821 cases. Even with the control of the data source about suicide in Brazil through the Systems on Mortality Information (SIM/MS), it is estimated that the number of deaths can be 2 to 10 times lower than the real one. Considering this, it is necessary updated studies to verify if there is a real increase - or reduction - of suicide rates in Ribeirão Preto region, identifying associated factors, the suicide profile as well as an epidemiological approach for future studies to be conducted regarding prevention strategies. Mortality data by suicide will be obtained at Ribeirão Preto city from 2012-2014 to verify the frequency of different suicide methods in this group and it is intended to describe the biological profile of the suicide victim and to check possible records of previous psychiatric care of these individuals. The study aims to be a sensitization awareness to the public administration for investments on health system capacitattion and its services for effective preventive actions. (AU)
