Abstract

Remarkable advances on the knowledge of the Tribe Oryzomyini were achieved in the last years, but important aspects regarding its diversity and evolutionary and biogeographic history remain to be established. Important issues are: the four clades obtained in several analyses with the molecular markers cytochrome b and IRBP [A, B, C and D], will also be recovered in analysis with denser taxonomic sampling? These four clades will be recovered with distinct datasets and methodological approaches, as in phylogenomic analyses? Which are the phylogenetic relationships within these clades? Which is the ancestral area for the tribe? Which it the tempo of diversification of the main lineades of Oryzomyini? Basal groups were penta or tetralophodonf, from forested or open habitats? These are some of the questions that I intend to answer in this proposal. My aim is to analyze specimens (conventional and tissue samples) and through phylogenetic inference employing morphological and molecular matrices (phylogenomic approach) as well as combined datasets, obtain hypothesis for the relationships of the genera of the tribe. Based on these inferences, I will establish hypothesis on the timing of diversification and on the ancestral areas of origin for the recovered lineages. Comparing these results with data on the geological history of South American, I also intend to establish hypothesis on the evolutionary history of this group in the continent. (AU)
