Morbimortality related to hospital de cancer de Barretos melanoma treatments

Abstract

The skin cancer is one of the most common neoplasia, that can be divided into non-melanoma (basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas as the most commom) and melanoma (malignant tumor of high clinical importance because the high risk of death). It potentially affects Caucasians who have had chronic sun exposure in their lives. Melanoma if discovered early has high survival rates, which falls substantially over time and staging of the disease. Surgical treatment is sufficient in most cases of melanoma in the early stages. However, in high risk patients such as those with important factors for recurrence (tumor thickness, mitotic index, presence of ulceration and nodal metastasis) are candidates for adjuvant therapy, in addition to lymphadenectomy. Adjuvant therapy includes conventional chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and target therapy. The surgery and the systemic treatment imply in toxicities and operative complications that undergo influences within thereality of each patient. This project aims to investigate these toxicities and complications, as well as demographic, molecular, histopathological and clinical data related to the treatment of melanoma. The analysis of the acute morbimortality data related to the patient and the tumor will be retrospective, graded according to CTCAE (Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events) version 5.0. The sample of this study will be the patients with melanoma treated at the Department of Tumor Surgery of Mesenchymal Cells, Melanoma and Sarcoma of Barretos Cancer Hospital who had all their procedures performed in this institution.
