Abstract The occurrence of surface coverage at different levels of low terraces located in the coastal zone, can be understood as remnants or evidence of different current environmental conditions. studies of ancient landscapes and paleoclimatic reconstructions can help understand the processes responsible for the origin of this coverage material. In this sense, this project aims to analyze its genesis considering the hypothesis of climate pulsations occurred at the end of the Pleistocene and Holocene, this processes would be responsible for transgression and recent marine regression origin surface of coverag. To test this hypothesis, the river basins of the rivers Una and Pardo, located in the south of Bahia region for application of the proposed methodologies. Absolute dating Optically Stimulated Luminescence is the main technique for the recognition and characterization of the period of deposition of coverage, due to its high chronological accuracy and suitability for the collected material. morphometric analyzes to be carried out in the low rivers Una and Pardo, and physical / chemical analysis of the surface coverage are configured as auxiliary methodologies in interpreting the evolution of the coastal landscape, meeting other demands of the research. This Dr. proposal is linked to the project of Aid to Regular Search "umbrella" entitled, " Spatial distribution and geochronology of surface coatings in marine, river- marine and river terraces in the context of climate fluctuations, associated to the Holocene's marine transgression and regression episodes in the Brazilian coast "funded by FAPESP. | |
