Abstract

In the context of the Bioinorganic Chemistry, special attention has been dedicated to the investigation of metal complexes with potential application in pharmacology/medicine. Diruthenium compounds containing non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) have been subject of study in our laboratory for many years with the aim of developing novel metallodrugs. The anticancer potential of complexes bearing Ru2(II,III) metal-metal multiply bonded cores coordinated to NSAIDs has been demonstrated in glioma model cancer. The present proposal for Scientific Initiation research aims to investigate in detail the chemical behavior of the diruthenium-NSAIDs in conditions that might mimic those used in biological assays. The systematic study will contribute to elucidate the phenomenon which may be related to the mode of action of the metallodrugs associated to the biological/pharmacological activity. (AU)
